1st Lt. Henri B. Loomis, Co. F

Loomis, age 21, enlisted Aug. 16, 1861, at Liberty, N.Y., as a sergeant. He was mustered into Co. F on Aug. 29, 1861.  He was promoted to second lieutenant Nov. 14, 1862, and to first lieutenant and adjutant Dec. 18, 1863. He was mustered out Oct. 17, 1865, at Charleston, S.C. Lester Hall

Hall, age 19, enlisted Oct. 7, 1861, at Liberty as a private. He was mustered into Co. F that same day. He reenlisted Feb. 20, 1864. He was promoted to corporal (no date given) and  to sergeant (Oct. 1, 1864). He was commissioned a lieutenant (May 1, 1865) in the United States Colored Troops, whose units consisted of black enlisted personnel led by white officers; this post-war photograph shows him as a lieutenant. 1st Lt. Charles B. Young, Co. F

Young, age 24, enrolled Aug. 16, 1861, at Liberty to serve three years, and was commissioned second lieutenant Aug. 29, 1861. He was promoted to first lieutenant Nov. 14, 1862, and received his commission Dec. 18 of that year. He was mustered out Oct. 17, 1865, at Charleston, S.C. Dewitt H. Beebe, Co. F

Beebe, age 25, enlisted Aug. 16, 1861, at Liberty to serve three years. He was mustered in as a private Aug. 29. He reenlisted as a veteran Feb. 20, 1864, and was promoted to corporal Oct. 1, 1864, and to sergeant April 1, 1865. He was mustered out at Charleston, S.C., on Oct. 17, 1865. Blake Devine, Co. F

Enlisted at Bethel at the age of 31 years old

Lester Hall, Co. F 

Hall, age 19, enlisted at Liberty to serve three years and was mustered in as a private Oct. 7, 1861. He was promoted to corporal (no date given, but he wears corporal's stripes in this photo) and reenlisted as a veteran Feb. 20, 1864. He was promoted to sergeant Oct. 1, 1864, and was discharged May 1, 1865, to receive a commission as lieutenant in the United States Colored Troops, which consisted of regiments led by white officers. Alfred Dolaway, Co. F

Dolaway, age 18, enlisted at Liberty to serve three years and was mustered in as a private Oct. 10, 1861. He reenlisted as a veteran Feb. 20, 1864, and was mustered out Oct. 17, 1865, at Charleston, S.C. His brother, Joseph E., age 20, also was a member of Co. John Hogancamp (above) enlisted at the age of 22 on August 16, 1861, at Liberty NY to serve three years in Company F..  He mustered in as a corporal, later being promoted to sergeant.  He married Mary Ann Welton in 1867 in Liberty, NY.  They moved to Marshalltown, Iowa around 1883 and settled there.  They are buried in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Daniel Hogancamp (above) joined the 56th New York at the age of 29, on August 17, 1861 at Liberty, NY to serve three years.  He was a member of Company F.  He mustered out with the rest of the company on October 17, 1865.  In January of 1866 he married Catherine Whitmore in Sullivan County, NY.  Around 1870 they moved to Wisconsin.  They then moved to Burt County , Nebraska around 1873 eventually settling in Onawa, Iowa in 1900.  He is buried in the Blencoe Cemetery, in Blencoe, Iowa.
